If the first line does not contain the SERVER keyword, there is no need to setup the license server. Copy the provided license file to the “licenses” folder inside your VR&D product installation.

If the first line of your license file, contains the SERVER keyword, the license server needs to be setup.

 

License Server Setup – For Windows Machines

  • Shutdown any VR&D programs that are currently running
  • Save the license file provided via email in the licenses directory of your VR&D installation,{installation_path}/vrand/licenses folder
  • Use the instructions below to start the FLEXnet license server using LMTOOLS or from the command prompt
  • Using LMTOOLS
    • Run the lmtools.exe program in the {installation_path}/vrand/flexlm/win32 folder
    • Choose the “Service/License File” tab and select the “Configuration using services” radio button
    • Choose the “Config Services” tab. Enter Service Name: VRAND license service
    • Enter Path to the lmgrd.exe file: {installation_path}/vrand/flexlm/win32/lmgrd.exe
    • Enter Path to the license file: {installation_path}/vrand/licenses/{license_file}
    • Create a new folder vrand under C:/ProgramData/
    • Enter Path to the debug log file:C:/ProgramData/vrand/flexlm.log
    • Check the “Use Services” box
    • Check the “Start Server at Power Up” box
    • Press the “Save Service” button and select “Yes” in the confirmation dialog
    • Choose the “Start/Stop/Reread” tab and press the “Start Server” button
      The license server is now installed and running.
      If the machine is rebooted, the server will automatically restart.
  • From the command Prompt
    • From a Windows command shell go to the {installation_path}/vrand/flexlm/win32 folder and use the following command:
      lmgrd -c license_file_list -L [+]debug_log_path
      where license_file_list is one or more of the following:
      – the full path to a single license file
      – a directory, where all files named *.lic in that directory are used
      debug_log_path is the full path to the debug log file.Prepending debug_log_path with the + character appends logging entries.
      NOTE:Spaces in pathnames require double quotes around the path.

License Server Setup – For Linux/UNIX Machines

  • Shutdown any VR&D programs that are currently running
  • Save the license file provided via email in the licenses directory of your VR&D installation, {installation_path}/vrand/licenses/
  • Use the instructions below to start the FLEXnet license server from the command the command shell
  • In the command shell go to the {installation_path}vrandflexlm folder and use the following command:
    lmgrd -c license_file_list -L [+]debug_log_path
    where license_file_list is one or more of the following:
    – the full path to a single license file
    – a directory, where all files named *.lic in that directory are used
    debug_log_path is the full path to the debug log file.Prepending debug_log_path with the + character appends logging entries.
    NOTE:Spaces in pathnames require double quotes around the path.
    NOTE: To configure lmgrd to start automatically, the boot script needs to modified. Please refer to the FlexLM end user documentation located at {installation_path}/vrand/flexlm/doc/ folder
