Abstract:

A design process to improve noise performance for automatic transmissions of vehicles is presented. The proposed process uses a newly developed sound pressure optimization technique. Additionally, useful and necessary techniques including Topometry optimization and beta method are described and used to reduce sound pressure response caused by structural vibration. As a demonstrative problem, the design process is successfully applied to improve the noise performance of the AISIN AW FWD automatic transmission. Contact VR&D to obtain a copy of this paper.
